Discover one of the Netherlands' most celebrated architectural landmarks during a guided tour of Landgoed Zonnestraal. Led by an experienced guide, you'll explore the former sanatorium and uncover the remarkable story behind this internationally acclaimed masterpiece of Dutch Modernism (Het Nieuwe Bouwen).
Designed by architect Jan Duiker in collaboration with Bernard Bijvoet and Jan Gerko Wiebenga, Zonnestraal was revolutionary for its time. Built around the principles of light, air, space and nature, the estate is considered one of the finest examples of Het Nieuwe Bouwen and a highlight of twentieth-century architecture. Its exceptional cultural value has even led to plans for nomination as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
After the tour, relax at Brasserie Zonnestraal, where you can enjoy lunch, coffee or drinks on the terrace overlooking the estate.
The guided tour lasts approximately 90 minutes. An English-language tour starts at 3.00 pm. Booking is required.
