Humorous Songs Through the Centuries
Enjoy an entertaining afternoon with the eight-voice a cappella ensemble Sangdrangh. This special Hofconcert features humorous songs spanning six centuries, from Renaissance madrigals to Dutch tearjerkers. Once sung across Europe, these musical gems are now performed in Dutch, translated and adapted by the choir itself.
Sangdrangh brings these historic songs to life with wit, charm and a touch of mischief. Some texts have been translated faithfully, while others have been given a freer interpretation, allowing today’s audience to fully appreciate the jokes, playful wordplay and cheeky humour hidden in the originals.
Expect a lively programme filled with beautiful harmonies, surprising stories and music that proves laughter is timeless. After the concert, visitors are invited to stay for drinks and light refreshments. Admission is free, and voluntary contributions are warmly appreciated. In the event of bad weather, the concert will take place inside the Grote Kerk on Kerkbrink.
