Bach’s St Matthew Passion

until 21 March

This special performance brings you close to the origins of Bach’s Passion. You’ll hear the reconstructed original version for one choir and one orchestra, as it was first performed in 1727. With a small ensemble, the music gains a clear, intimate power. Eight professional singers and a baroque orchestra bring the lines, emotions, and tensions into sharp focus. The music breathes stillness and intensity, inviting deep and attentive listening.

The ensemble consists of experienced vocalists and instrumentalists who together create a transparent and vibrant sound. Performed in line with historical practice, the Passion is brought back to its core. The result is a direct musical experience that moves through simplicity and expressive strength. The performance is carried by the baroque orchestra Cappella Maria Barbara and is entirely devoted to the music of Johann Sebastian Bach.
