King of the World | Hoochie Mama’s Blues Tavern

Expect an evening filled with gritty blues, roots and rhythm & blues, performed by musicians who constantly push each other to new heights while clearly enjoying every moment on stage. With guitarist Stef Delbaere and singer drummer Marlon Pichel, King of the World has found fresh energy and a renewed sound.

Their music blends rhythm & blues and roots with rich harmonies, powerful solos and deep grooves. As singer, drummer and songwriter, Pichel plays an increasingly important role in shaping the band’s dynamic sound.

Their latest studio album, released in October 2024, features guest appearances by Matt Schofield, Shirma Rouse and Christine Tambakis. The record showcases a band embracing more dynamics and layered vocals while staying firmly rooted in the blues tradition.

Over the years, King of the World has performed at major festivals including North Sea Jazz Festival, Ribs ’n Blues and Vienna Spring Blues Festival, as well as iconic venues such as Paradiso. The band has received multiple Blues Awards, including prizes for best band and best instrumentalists. Dutch music magazine Gitarist considers Stef Delbaere one of the leading blues and rock guitarists in the Benelux.
