What follows is a personal and honest story about family, identity and the connection between three generations.
Set against the backdrop of Amsterdam’s canals, the film unfolds as a warm yet sometimes confronting portrait of an unconventional grandfather who once chose a freer way of life. While Hannah works on a film about her father, Frances discovers the city’s queer community and culture. Their different perspectives create tension at times, but also lead to new understanding and connection.
