Marky Ramone gained worldwide fame as the drummer of the Ramones, where he played for a total of fifteen years. During that time he performed more than 1,700 shows and contributed to over fifteen releases. His unmistakable drum work can be heard on albums such as Road to Ruin — featuring the classic I Wanna Be Sedated — as well as End of the Century, Mondo Bizarro and Adios Amigos!.
The influence of the Ramones on punk rock is undeniable. In 2001 the band was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and received the MTV Lifetime Achievement Award from Bono. In 2010 they were honored with a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, confirming their lasting impact on music.
