Experience Fritz Lang’s iconic film Metropolis on the big screen. This silent masterpiece is considered one of the defining works of dystopian science fiction and continues to inspire filmmakers to this day.
Set in a futuristic city divided by extreme inequality, the story follows a world where the wealthy live high above ground while workers labour deep beneath the city in harsh conditions. When Freder, the son of the city’s ruler, encounters the workers for the first time, he begins to question the system he has always known.
This screening features the restored 2010 version, which reintroduced long lost scenes to the film. Thanks to a remarkable discovery in Buenos Aires, much of Lang’s original vision has been brought back to life.
A visually stunning and thought provoking film for lovers of cinema, architecture and futuristic storytelling. This screening includes English subtitles.
This film is part of the Architecture Month programme in Hilversum.
