UFO Film Festival

until 5 July

Filmtheater Hilversum

Dive into mysteries, extraterrestrial stories and extraordinary screenings during the second edition of Unidentified Anomalous Pictures at Filmtheater Hilversum. The Netherlands’ only film festival entirely dedicated to UFOs and UAPs opens on Wednesday 2 July, World UFO Day, with the documentary The Mysterious Case of the Belgian Triangle. The festival continues on Friday 4 and Saturday 5 July.

Expect exclusive premieres, cult classics, documentaries, lectures and fascinating talks throughout the weekend. Screenings include Arrival and Independence Day, with the latter returning to the big screen on original 35mm film for its 30th anniversary. Several new international documentaries will also have their Dutch premiere during the festival.

Beyond the films, the programme offers plenty of depth and discussion. Philosopher of science Sabine Winters presents the lecture The Alien as Mirror, while Dr Tanya Wijngaarde explores the famous 1966 Westall UFO case. Parapsychologist Douwe Bosga joins Bram Roza for a conversation about the Travis Walton case, known from the thriller Fire in the Sky.

From arthouse cinema to science fiction, and from philosophical reflection to gripping extraterrestrial horror, this festival takes you to the edge of imagination and reality.

Please note that language of instruction of each film may vary. Non-Dutch-language films are generally screened with Dutch subtitles only. This also applies to non-English films. Dutch-language films are typically shown without subtitles. As a result, accessibility for non-Dutch speakers may differ depending on the programme.
